About Stephen

I’m Stephen Mannings, and I’m the Director of Choral Outreach at Liverpool Cathedral. I am also a sought-after piano accompanist in Merseyside.

This website promotes me as an accompanist for exams, recitals, concerts and recordings. Since 2008 I have accompanied students of every age, at every grade and across the full instrument range. I have also played for countless professional soloists in concert. I have been hired by schools, colleges and universities as well as freelance music teachers and private individuals. I am a fantastic sight-reader and very quick learner. Please use this website to learn more about me and how to hire me.

I hold three degrees, including a MMus in Music Performance and a MBA in General Management. I took up post as Assistant Choral Director at Liverpool Cathedral in 2012, before this role was enlarged to Director of Choral Outreach in 2018.

My role at the cathedral sees me working alongside Director of Music, Lee Ward (formerly David Poulter), with the training and conducting of the Cathedral Choirs. Aside from this, my main focus has been leading our music department to become one of the first in the country to offer musical engagement opportunities to every age group. This includes Teeny Maestros (early years education programme), the Schools Singing Programme, Junior Choir (ages 6-12), Gilbert Scott Singers (youth choir for ages 12-18), Liverpool64 (SATB community choir for adults), the Festival of Music, championing music performance, and a range of taught courses which include GCSE Music and music theory. All of this exists under the umbrella of the Liverpool Cathedral School of Music.

I have been an Associate Artist with English National Ballet since 2013.
